WILMINGTON, Mass.-July 16th, 2007-Polychromix, Inc., a world leader in miniature and portable analysis tools, today announced a collaboration with Farma International, a leading distributor of specialty pharmaceutical excipients. Under the agreement Polychromix will deliver a pharmaceutical raw material analysis system based on its popular PHAZIR hand-held NIR analyzer and Farma International will distribute and support the product in Central and South America.

The PHAZIR Rx™ provides non-technical operators a portable tool for quick and non-destructive testing of ingredients used in pharmaceutical products ensuring they are properly labeled and safe for use. The hand-held system frees operators to perform analysis in warehouse receiving locations rather than employing the traditional practice of pulling representative samples and transporting them to a central laboratory for analysis. The point-and-shoot operation performs analysis in seconds, directly through packaging such as plastic drum liners, which facilitates100% material inspection without risk of contamination. This system includes an extensive library of pharmaceutical materials which can also be expanded by the customer. Additionally, the PHAZIR Rx™ can serve in manufacturing operations as an at-line Process Analytical Technology (PAT) tool to monitor in-process material for moisture content, blend and content uniformity, coating thickness and other critical parameters.
